We can't wait for you to see the new and improved Ronson's!!!  OMG YOU GUYS THE CLUB LOOKS SO GOOD.

How did you all get by without the Ronson's for the past 5 weeks???

It was hard for us to be away from you all for so long, and we're so excited to welcome you to the new & improved Monster Ronson's !!

Now, KJ Johnny Ballantine would like to share a little anecdote from the Baustelle:

"It was the second week of the Baustelle, and the Ronson's was totally gutted. All of the boxes were gone, the walls ripped open - all that remained of the bar itself was a long, jagged scar that ran along the shattered tile floor. Dust covered everything, electrical wires dangled like arteries from an eviscerated body... you get my point: it was fucking traumatic!

I guess I wasn't prepared to see this place in ruins like that. I think none of us were.  Ronson's isn't just any other bar - as I'm sure you all feel this as well - it's the kind of place where everlasting memories are made, boundaries are pushed, ourselves overcome. We've had wedding parties here from people who met in one of our boxes, going away parties for people to whom Ronson's was the heart of their Berlin nightlife. Indeed, those electrical arteries did create a current that flowed in and out of all of us monsters, and connected us. To see a place that holds so much history, in such a state... it was very intense, to say the least!

So why this glib anecdote? Well, in that traumatic, war-zone-like atmosphere of the Baustelle, I saw something very beautiful:

One night, I was working late in the Ronson's office - it was around 9pm - and I had closed up shop and put my jacket on. As I was heading out, I noticed the door to the club was slightly open, which came as a surprise, because I was pretty sure everyone had gone home already.

With some apprehension, I walked into this cold, dark, dusty shell of a club. I was pretty scared.. I mean, it was really dark and creepy in there! And then I heard some voices, and saw that there was a single lamp on, on the floor, in the middle of the club, right near where that disco ball labled "Uranus" used to be. It was Monster Ronson himself, and two of the helpers from the Baustelle. They were standing in front of a curtain, with the floor lamp behind them, so that their shadows were projected onto the fabric. They had microphones in their hands, but there was no music. Ron turned to me, handed me a microphone and said: "You wanna sing?" At first I was shy and a bit freaked out, and said no. I was reminded of the first time he asked me to sing, at the very first Bäraoke, when I finally said "Ok!" and nervously grabbed a microphone. I saw the three of them dancing there in this giant, empty, silent room, lip-synching to imaginary lyrics. And I felt as nervous and excited as I've ever felt when jumping onto the Ronson's stage when I said "Ok!" and grabbed a mic. And that's when the magic happened: I swear to God (aka Daisuke Inoue), the feeling I got from dancing and singing into the empty room, with no music... it was as real a karaoke kick as any! The four of us wore big smiles as our shoes kicked up little dust clouds around us, dancing around this little lamp like some kind of lost tribe from another time, doing some ritual dance around a fire in the middle of the night. It was like a rite of passage for the Ronson's - some kind of ceremony to keep the soul of the place alive; protecting the pilot light - fanning its "eternal flame". Karaoke means "empty orchestra". And after all these years of working with Ron and Monster Ronson's, I finally understood what that means, completely."

with much love,
Yours in Monsterdom,
Johnny B
